The deadline for applications to the BRISC (Biological Recording in Scotland) and GNHS (Glasgow Natural History Society) bursary program is January 31st, 2025. These bursaries provide essential financial support for individuals living in Scotland who wish to develop their skills in biological recording and natural history.

Since its inception in 2009, the bursary scheme has enabled numerous participants to attend training courses aimed at improving their knowledge of Scotland’s biodiversity. In 2023, the bursary program was enhanced to offer funding of up to £400 per applicant, including up to £100 to cover transport costs. This update ensures greater accessibility to courses, including those held outside Scotland.

Eligibility is open to all residents of Scotland, regardless of membership in the Glasgow Natural History Society. The bursary can be applied to a variety of training programs, making it an excellent opportunity for individuals seeking to start or expand their expertise in biological recording and field studies.

Further details about the program, including application guidelines and forms, can be found at www.brisc.org.uk/bursaries.
