CommuniMap Update: Behind the Scenes of Our Community Science App!

We’re excited to share an update on the development of our new community science app which will bring together data stories and creativity from across the GALLANT community collaboration projects. Here, participants will be able to map their local area, through movement, nature climate and much more.

After a lively showdown vote on our social medias, our online community settled on the name CommuniMap as their favourite. A big thank you to everyone who joined in and had their say!

CommuniMap has been developed in collaboration with Citizen Science App developers at Spotteron, we’re pleased to let you know it has now entered the beta development phase, with a public launch on the horizon in the coming months.

In the apps design process, we’ve had the joy of collaborating with local Glasgow artist, Libby Walker. Libby has been working developing a bespoke logo that captures the spirit of community connection and creativity at the heart of the project, we look forward to sharing this with you.

For our next steps, over the coming summer we’ll be hosting a series of events to test the app in real time with different community groups. These hands-on sessions will help us fine-tune the app and make sure it’s something that really works for those who’ll use it.

We’d like to extend a thank you to everyone who’s been involved so far. As we move into the next phase of development, we’re excited to continue co-creating with our community and shaping CommuniMap together!
