Shining a Light on Wild Spaces – Exciting New Project for Glasgow

We’re pleased to highlight and support the important work of Butterfly Conservation’s Wild Spaces programme, which is now aiming to bring its work to Glasgow.

Wild Spaces is designed to connect people with nature by creating places where butterflies, moths and other pollinators can feed, breed and shelter. After successful projects in Perth, Stirling, Bristol, and ongoing work in Leeds, Glasgow is the next city where this initiative could have a positive impact.

If successful in securing funding, the two-year project will support the creation of 13 Wild Spaces in schools and 15 in public parks, alongside advice and resources for 20 community hubs. Butterfly Conservation also plans to distribute 250 starter packs and run 30 events to engage residents in local greenspace improvements.

With Glasgow’s strong network of parks and green areas, and a high population density, this work has the potential to support biodiversity while giving more people opportunities to connect with their local environment.

Butterfly Conservation has submitted a major funding bid but needs public support to close the gap. Every donation to their crowdfunder will help bring this vital initiative to life, we’d love it if you could consider supporting!
