Welcome to our very first Focus of the Month — a new way to explore what’s been shared on communiMap, our new community science app!
Summer rain in Glasgow doesn’t always arrive gently. Sudden August showers have left behind more than just wet pavements — they’ve also reshaped how we move through the city. The Water Co-Lab has been tracking these everyday moments where puddles linger, drains struggle, and roads become harder to cross.
One communiMap post highlighted a stretch of path where the camber of the road and nearby trees helped water flow into the drain, even during heavy rain and leaf litter. Another captured an area once lined with trees, now prone to standing water after downpours — raising questions about how green infrastructure has changed over time.
Together, these snapshots show how climate, drainage, and urban green space intersect, and how small shifts can affect daily life.
💧 Where does water linger where you are?
Keep spotting and sharing your observations on communiMap. A new focus will be shared here each month, so check back soon!
