Our work in Govanhill and Strathbungo began in 2023. We started with creative workshops and photo walks. Local residents explored sustainability, food, and place through photography. They also engaged in shared reflection.
Together, participants co-developed five local walking routes, highlighting greenspaces, growing sites, and the everyday rhythms of life on the Southside. Artist Libby Walker created a vibrant illustrated map. The map was inspired by these routes. It offers a creative way to engage with the area.
This early engagement laid the groundwork for the development of the Composting Co-Lab. This is a collaborative research project. It investigates how composting connects us to soil, community, and care.
The Co-Lab brings together community growers, researchers and local residents to explore composting as both a climate action and a social practice. Workshops, experiments, and soil monitoring are now underway. They are generating new insights into circular systems. They also highlight the role of care in community resilience.
This hub is actively contributing to the CommuniMap app. Residents can record composting activity. They can share reflections and track soil health over time.
