In Govan, we’re using participatory tools to explore local experiences of water — from everyday observations to climate risks like flooding and drought.
Through the Water Co-Lab layer of CommuniMap, local residents can document where they notice water appearing, disappearing, or creating problems. These observations are helping to build a more detailed picture of surface water challenges across the area.
This project has also supported wider engagement around water, climate, and wellbeing. Community workshops, pop-ups and interviews have opened up conversations about how flooding affects daily life — and how future planning can support health, safety, and resilience.
The Water Co-Lab is a space for Govan residents to:
- Share stories and data about local water
- Reflect on flooding and climate challenges
- Contribute to a community-led approach to resilience
By combining community insight with digital mapping, this work supports more responsive and inclusive planning for the city’s changing climate.

Once CommuniMap launches it will be open to anyone in Glasgow who wants to help shape a more accessible, climate-friendly city.
